London

Mom and Aurelia arrived in London on February 27th with Melissa, and Daddy went to get them at Heathrow. Once again our little girl was a wonderful traveller and Mom and aunty Melissa could even sleep on the plane. Dad found a nice apartment in Clapham with two bedrooms and a garden for his little angel to live in for her first European experience.
For the first couple of days Aurelia was a grand explorer of London - going out with Dad and aunty Melissa all day long to let Mommy catch up on some much needed rest. Friday afternoon the trio toured the Common, bought groceries and even had a couple of pints outside as it was a beautiful day. Saturday saw Aurelia at Burrough Market, the Milenium Bridge, at Fortnum and Mason, and then later at a pub for drinks with mom, Val and Elise, followed by pizza at Daddy's pizza spot near school.
Aurelia was a pretty good sleeper for the first couple of days, but once the house cleared out, she started to wail at night! It has been about 4 nights now of lots of crying at sleep time and waking up during the night. Mom and Dad are a little tired right now... but we love our little on so much we are more sad for her than anything.

Mexico

Presently the family is down in Acapulco with Meme, Papi, Nat, Jay, Tea and Ricardo. We have come to visit our lovely Tante Marlene and Salim, and of course their kind sons and their families. Our relatives in Mexico are very special: beautiful souls that are deeply understanding, kind, generous and empathetic. We are having so much fun here with together! Tea is an excellent babysitter even at her young age of 18 months, and plays beautifully with her cousin. We all sit by the pool every day and go often to the ocean to play in the waves. While Aurelia loves the water, the ocean current is a little strong for her so we dip her toes in the pool from time to time.

Aurelia is just such a pleasure. She smiles all the time and loves to laugh at the funny faces we make. She likes to be held by everyone, and can just lie on her back for long periods of time. This trip is a special one for us because Aurelia finally rolled over! On her tummy she struggles to get her legs underneath her and then kicks her right leg until it gains purchase, flinging herself, with the help on a quick head jerk and rolls to the right. She also grabbed her feet for the first time here! She is such a little cutie lying on her back and finding her feet. Must be the Mexican chili working its wonders!!!

Travels to date

Aurelia has been on several trips already - keeping up with her parents in good form. She is a great traveler and so well behaved that she rarely disturbs anyone on the plane. She is a beautiful baby and often solicits nods, winks, pinches, coos and comments from random strangers.

In November the family went to visit NannyPa in Florida and had a wonderful time. Aurelia was a good sleeper from the start, but it was in Florida that she first started to sleep for long stretches of time at night. NannyPa were so kind in having us down to Florida and taking care of our little baby. Mom and Dad even got to go down to the hot tub together for the sunset almost every evening!

In January the family went to visit Uncle Otto in Vancouver. Dad was interested in learning about the family history and so the family packed up and went. We visited Tara, Casey, Jasper and Elija in Sooke over the weekend, and stayed with Aranka and Kalsun in their gorgeous apartment in the West End. Aurelia loved the daily walks, and breathing coastal air. We think she may want to move there one day - with her parents of course!

Family and Friends

Aurelia and her parents are extremely lucky to be surrounded by many loving friends and family. NannyPa are always anxious and waiting to skype down in Florida and Meme and Papi see Aurelia often in Beaconsfield. She is loved by her aunties Dana and Nathalie and her uncles Bernard and Jason. Their daughters Ines (who calls Aurelia Aulia) and Tea (who calls Aurelia Lia) have welcomed Aurelia in the warmest and loving fashion possible. Despite being only four and a half months old Aurelia has made friend with Riley, Jasper and Elija of the Paloc Clan, Talia and Nevin Vosinek, as well as Joaquim Mainville.

A start

Aurelia Lilly Cooper was born on the 24th of September 2008, the gift of the love shared by Marlene Elias and Reid Cooper. This blog is set up to record the events in her life and to share them with her friends and family.
Aurelia was born in La Maison de Naissance on Cartier Avenue in Beaconsfield at 12:50 pm. She weighed in at 5 lbs 9 oz. The delivery went as smoothly as a delivery can and the Cooper family went to their home on St Andrew and Church in Beaurepaire several hours later.
